Only one thing could have gotten me up and out the door at 7:45 this morning: Christmas Decorating Day!
Since The Flying Crane and I are hosting a Christmas party this Saturday, we needed to deck our halls, STAT! The only reason we had held off this long was I absolutely refuse to decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving. You just have to draw the line somewhere.
Originally I was going to drive back from Cleveland on Saturday night so we would have all of Sunday to decorate. Then I realized that would involve driving through the mountains at nighttime and the last time I did that I ended up crashed against the guard rail in an ice storm, halfway on the road facing incoming traffic. Really not looking to repeat that, I opted for an early Sunday morning departure.
This meant we would only have half of a day at most to put up and decorate the tree, hang the mistletoe and various other decorations, and design and execute the best Christmas village ever. None of which either of us had ever done on our own before. For some reason we had a lot of people doubting it could or would be done.
I think most people underestimated the magnitude of the Christmas frenzy that had been building in both of us over the last few weeks. Christmas was coming to town and it was coming at warp speed. I arrived home at 2:30 and by 5:30 everything but the Christmas village was done. After breaking for dinner, we knocked that out as well. I have spent the last several hours since just staring at the beauty we have made. And if you know me and my obsession with both multitasking and technology, that is truly saying something.
Below is the first installment on what will be a long, long series of Christmas photos. I have to warn you though, it only captures about 50 percent of the awesome:
Stay tuned for more in the continuing Christmas saga!
Nice work!!!
