I am very pleased to announce that this will (hopefully) be the last Daily Photo taken with my digital camera!
I have been debating for weeks over whether to get an iPod Touch as a temporary replacement for my lost iPhone. Since I’m not up for a new phone from Verizon for another 11 months, it’s a much cheaper and quicker way of reconnecting with all those apps I’ve become so addicted to. It has all the biggies like iMessage so I can text my Mom, Foursquare so I can get free queso at California Tortilla, and of course, High Noon.
The biggest downside is it doesn’t come with its own 3G network so you can only use the apps when you’re connected to a wireless network. Of course since I spend about 95 percent of my time either at home or at work, that’s not too much of a problem. And no I don’t want to know what that says about my social life.
So I’ve been waffling (that’s just a fun verb) back and forth for weeks. Then today I got paid and was shocked to discover that all of my credit card bills for the month amounted to only $50. Later when Cecily mentioned she was going to the Apple store four blocks from my house, my path was clear.
It was especially fun going in there with Cecily since she is pretty much royalty after years of being the head Genius. I stood in the middle of the store chatting and in less than five minutes they had handed me an iPod, swiped my card on their phone, gotten me to sign with my fingertip, and emailed my receipt to me.
It’s been less than two hours and I have already had quite an amazing iMessage conversation with my 10-year-old nephew, taken a photo, and emailed said photo without having to put it on my computer first. Oh smart technology, how I have missed you. So much.
