Pi Day Eve

Working in Chinatown is not what I would call quiet. I have learned to write amongst sirens, people screaming obscenities, and constant honking. So at first I didn’t even notice the shouting happening in the alley right outside my office. Then I realized it was more like cheering and assumed there was a fight. It was only when the guy in the next office over yelled “They’re throwing pies!” that I ran to the window.

Unfortunately I missed the actually tossing of the pies, but I did get to see the aftereffects: one guy in a blue jumpsuit covered in fruit pie while a dozen others laughed.

The only thing I can figure is it was a dry run for the Pi Day festivities tomorrow. I guess you really never know what you’re going to see in Chinatown.
