I’m pretty sure Gene Roddenberry actually did travel to the future

Ever since I first heard about 3D printing a couple of years ago, I have been completely fascinated. The idea that we can print out actual, physical, 3D objects from a printer is just too cool. These days there are plans to print everything from dinosaur robots to prescription drugs to commercial airplanes! But it wasn’t until I read a story about NASA developing a 3D printer that could be used in space that it hit me – that is the EXACT idea behind a replicator in Star Trek. Continue reading
