Day 7: Space, recycled urine, bats

I’m currently on a 5,000 mile road trip through 15 states with Cecily. The following is an excerpt from today’s post on our blog, destinationinspiration2012.com.

Our first stop this morning was the Space Center in Houston, where we both got the chance to seriously geek it out, NASA-style. First we took a tram all around the Johnson Space Center and got to see inside several places where the magic happens, including the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility where they have a bunch of mockups of the International Space Station.

We also got to see one of the old Saturn V rockets, the enormity of which was difficult to grasp.

The Space Center had tons of cool info about NASA missions, past and present, and is definitely a must-see for anyone visiting Houston. Not only did we learn how astronauts go to the bathroom on the space station, we also learned that all liquid waste is recycled into drinking water and used in cooking. Yum!
