Day 8: Nothingness, UFOs, car fever

I’m currently on a 5,000 mile road trip through 15 states with Cecily. The following is an excerpt from today’s post on our blog,

Today…well, today we drove. A lot. We got gas. A lot. The plan was to drive the 700+ miles from San Antonio to Albuquerque, stopping for a short while in Roswell because, how could we not? It should turn out to be our longest single-day drive of the trip and several people had warned us that we would be driving through the middle of nowhere for a very long time. To be honest I was a little worried I wouldn’t have any content for the blog tonight. Silly me. I should have remembered that after driving passed the same scenery for four or five hours, you become your own entertainment.

At this point in our trip, we’ve probably driven almost 50 hours. Neither Cecily or Megan have experienced that much car time in that condensed of a period. Cecily has never been in the car for more than 8 hours and Megan has never driven serious miles for more than two days in a row. So far we’ve both done pretty well keeping it together in the car. But today…well, we might have lost it just a little bit. Cecily swears she’s going to have the car’s version of bed sores from the whole thing.
