I’m currently on a 5,000 mile road trip through 15 states with Cecily. The following is an excerpt from today’s post on our blog, destinationinspiration2012.com.
Today was another day of serious driving – we began in Denver with the goal of making it across Colorado and the entire state of Kansas to Kansas City where we had tickets for a 6 p.m. U.S. Men’s World Cup Qualifier game against Guatemala. We would be crossing time zones and this time it did not work in our favor, so we ended up leaving at 7 a.m. mountain time. East Colorado and west Kansas were what we expected of Kansas: flat, no trees, lots of crops. The scenery actually almost put Cecily to sleep several times and would have Megan as well if she hadn’t practiced some of her finely-honed driving focus skills.
Lunch was very exciting as it was the first Taco Bell stop of the trip. Megan always stops at this fine eating establishment while on long road trips and it was a great travesty that they had yet to do so on the longest road trip of all. It was like they were out to avoid her – everywhere when it wasn’t time to eat and nowhere to be found at lunch or dinner. We literally had to search on Cecily’s iPhone for one to ensure we would be eating it at lunch. Luckily we were successful.
