Tricked into being charitable

There was a very good chance that the night before last I had returned, in addition to the two library books, one of my very own. Either that or I simply didn’t notice that there were only two books in my hand. Both of which are entirely possibly given my lack of any observation skills. Awesome. Continue reading

They’ll think twice next time before opening an email from me.

I’ve already admitted my inability to write a simple email invite. Today I learned it extends to all forms of mass emailing. Continue reading

My commitment to not letting burned calories go to waste

I’m guessing a majority of the 22,000 people who ran the Army Ten Miler with me yesterday took it easy the rest of the day. Spent some time on the couch. Watched a little TV. Maybe had a beer or two. Me? Nah. I biked home, wrote a blog post, showered, and got ready for the group of 5-20 people The Flying Crane and I were expecting for America the Delicious. Continue reading

America the Delicious

Ordinary people, when they want to have a potluck, just call or email their friends and say hey, I’m having a potluck. But that would be way too simple for my brand of crazy. It’s not enough for it to have a theme. Nah, if you really want to demonstrate to the world just how epic your potluck will be, you’ve got to go that extra mile. Me, I write a song. Because how many times have you been at a potluck and thought wow this would really be perfect if only the potluck had its own song. Continue reading

Best Gchat EVER!!

I’m not a very impulsive person. Occasionally I’ll do something spur-of-the-moment, but for the most part, I’m a planner. I like to weigh my options, make pro-con lists, get advice, and generally just analyze things to death. My sister is … Continue reading

Just ask my parents

A couple of nights ago I was headed to the movies with my cousin when she said her parents had mentioned I was writing a book. This was news to me. I started racking my brain, trying to remember something … Continue reading

Should have known that other shoe was just waiting to drop

Yesterday had all the makings of a really great day. That is until I woke up face down on my bathroom floor. Continue reading

MDESP + NPR = Awesome

My Mom and I have a pretty interesting* relationship. Over the years we have developed what I like to call MDESP, or Mother-Daughter Extrasensory Perception. We regularly find ourselves thinking, saying, or doing the exact same thing at the exact same time. Often we don’t even know it’s happening until later. Happily this ability has in no way been diminished by the 800+ miles now separating us. Continue reading

Couples only

Before I get to the wedding, I would just like to say that staying at a couples-only resort with your parents can be an interesting experience. Since Mom was perfectly content to lay on the beach all day long, Dad and I ended up doing all the activities together. This led people to jump to some pretty disturbing conclusions.
